White fillings are white natural-looking plastic materials used to repair decayed areas of the teeth. First we have to carefully remove all the decay. We then place special liquids in the cavity preparation to allow us to bond the white filling in place. The filling is then cured with a special high intensity light. We finish the procedure by polishing the surface for a smooth shiny appearance. Unlike with the silver mercury fillings, no one will know you have the natural-looking white fillings.
Often, after a thorough exam by Dr. Stott, new patients will say their last dentist did not find any cavities. Dr. Stott wants to treat cavities when they are small and not wait until they get deeper and closer to the nerve of the tooth. Cavities do not get smaller. They only get bigger. With dental technology we use the intra-oral camera and digital x-rays to detect the small cavities before they get larger. Contact us for an exam so we can find out if you need some white fillings.
